So I left this holy grail item off of my skincare routine because I think that it’s special enough for its own full post. And hopefully, by the end, you will see why. Below I’m going to go through the many ways that I use coconut oil and why I am so obsessed with it. Then I will talk about the brand that I use exclusively.
After I’m done showering I pat dry and then take about a palm size amount and slather my entire body. It does take a little bit to sink in but once it does your skin is baby soft and ready to go. This is especially my go to in the winter when my skin tends to be extra dry.
I take a silver dollar amount and run it through dry hair, really focusing on the ends. I wrap my hair into a top knot, throw a shower cap on, and leave it for as long as I can stand. 30 minutes minimum. I will also sometimes throw a blow dryer on for about 5 minutes, let it cool down completely and then wash it out. You might have to double shampoo to get it all out but it is very worth it when you have silky, shiny hair at the end. I do this at least once a week.
I just rub a little on my lips before bed and wake up with soft lips, I do it twice a day in the winter.
Let’s be real, undereye cream is very expensive. I just put a good amount under my eyes before I go to sleep. For me, it has worked just as well as expensive creams.
I’ll slather it on before I shave and it helps prevent razor burn.
My fundamental rule of never sleeping in makeup makes me go through a lot of removers. If I’m running low I will use a cotton pad with a little of the oil on it to remove my makeup before I was my face.
It’s no secret that I love coffee, I will drink my coffee black, with a tablespoon of coconut oil and mix it using a hand frother I got on amazon for about $6. Your brain loves healthy fats, having this first thing in the morning helps me stay focused on hours of spreadsheets. Also drinking coffee with healthy fats allows the caffeine to sustain. Instead of a quick jolt, then drop.
The brand that I use is Vita Coco. It is probably the most fairly priced oil I have found that is also a great quality. I’ve tried just about every brand and I always go back to Vita Coco. I can get it for about $9 at the local grocery store. I keep some in the kitchen and my bathroom at all times. I also believe that they are a great company that truly stands by their products and gives back, read more about that here.
Do you have any other uses for coconut oil? Let me know below as I’m always looking for more reasons to preach about it.
